There are many ways you can share your time and expertise with the Physician Associate Foundation. Opportunities include serving in a leadership capacity on the board or a committee, getting involved in fundraising activities, and evaluating grant and scholarship applications.
Apply to Join the PAF Board of Trustees (Closed for 2025)
The Physician Associate Foundation seeks individuals to serve on the Board of Trustees during its annual call for nominations process. Board members serve a three-year term.
PAF’s mission is to empower PAs to improve health through philanthropy and service. PAF seeks potential candidates with a diverse range of professional and volunteer expertise. Candidate attributes may include (but are not limited to):
- Previous volunteer leadership experience
- Enthusiasm for PAF’s mission
- Ability to network on behalf of PAF within the PA community
- Willingness to be highly engaged and active as a board member
Experience and relationships in the following areas are preferred:
- Health equity and DEI programmatic funding
- Corporate foundations (e.g. pharma, insurers, biotechnology, other healthcare industry partners)
- Private foundations
- State or regional funders
- Law, policy, and government
NOTE: For PA candidates, AAPA membership is required.

Apply to Serve on a PAF Committee
The PAF Committee on Nominations is seeking individuals to serve as volunteer members of PAF committees. Committees have and exercise the authority of the board in the management of the organization.
PAF seeks volunteers to serve as members of the following committees:
- Grants and Scholarship Committee
The Grants and Scholarships Committee is responsible for the oversight of PAF funding opportunities/programs. Committee members participate in the review of scholarship, grant, fellowship, and award applications and selection/approval of recipients. In addition, the committee recommends funding distribution amounts for PAF-administered scholarships, grants, fellowships, and awards to the PAF Board on an annual basis.
- Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and recommending trustee and student trustees candidates to the PAF Board of Trustees for appointment to the board. Additionally, they determine the officer candidate slate to present to the full board for approval.
- Program and Development Committee
The Program and Development Committee reviews and monitors corporate and grant-funded programs. The Committee is also responsible for partnering with the Director of Development to review current PAF programs, as well as develop new opportunities for the Foundation. Additionally, they are responsible for fostering the success of fundraising and other revenue generation activities of PAF.
- Women in Philanthropy Steering Committee
The Women in Philanthropy Steering Committee is a sub-committee of the Program and Development Committee and guides the activities of the WIP network. The mission of WIP is to engage/empower a diverse network of women with opportunities to collaborate and support the PAF through developing a culture of dynamic giving.
2025 Call for Nominations
The incoming committee members selected through this process will serve a two-year term beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2027. Committee members will be eligible for one reappointment to the same committee they are serving on, but must resubmit their application materials during the call for applications.
Eligibility and Service Commitment
AAPA Fellow membership is required to serve on a committee. Depending on the committee, the estimated time commitment is between 10-20 hours per year.

Other Informal Volunteer Opportunities with PAF
- Scholarship, grant, and fellowship review (exclusive to AAPA Fellow members) – PAF relies on volunteers to review and evaluate the applications it receives for its scholarship, grant, and fellowship programs.
- Women in Philanthropy activities – PAF’s Women in Philanthropy network works to engage and empower a diverse group of women with opportunities to collaborate and support PAF, and seeks volunteers to assist with its activities and efforts.
- Grant-funded program opportunities – PAF seeks volunteers to assist with opportunities related to its grant-funded programs and initiatives as needs arise. These opportunities include serving as a subject matter expert for program/content development, reviewing materials, etc.
