These individuals were chosen for their dedication to advancing youth mental health awareness in their Pennsylvania communities. Over the coming months, they will engage in evidence-based training to enhance their skills and impact in the field.

Cara Bennett, DHSc, MPAS, PA-C
Altoona, PA
Cara Bennett has worked as a child and adolescent psychiatry PA for 3 years in an outpatient clinic in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She also works at an Emotional Support School in Williamsport with a medically underserved student population. Previously she spent eight years in pediatric primary care and 10 years in college health.
Megan Borger, Ed.D., MSPAS, PA-C
New Castle, PA
Megan Borger is an emergency medicine PA and full-time faculty member at Slippery Rock University’s PA Program. She has worked in primary care for over 12 years, including four years at a rural health clinic. She lives and works in a rural area of western Pennsylvania whose population is often lacking access to crucial primary and preventative care resources.
Kathryn Fossaceca, MSPAS, PA-C, MT
Lancaster, PA
Kathryn Fossaceca is a family medicine PA currently working in a school-based health center in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania. She practices full-spectrum family medicine serving the youth of the school district of Lancaster and their families.
Stephen Gitkos, PA-C, CAQ-Psych
Archbald, PA
Stephen Gitkos is a psychiatric PA at Geisinger, treating patients with acute psychiatric pathology, co-occurring SUD with varied psychiatric pathology, and mood/personality disorders. Earlier roles include outpatient psychiatry for adults, outpatient family medicine, and outpatient/inpatient addiction treatment. He also previously worked at Community Counseling Services in Wilkes Barre, PA, a mental health clinic for medically underserved patients in Luzerne county.
Brooke Olenowski, PA-C
Palmyra, PA
Brooke Olenowski is a nephrology PA at Penn State Health’s Hershey Medical Center, caring for chronically ill abdominal transplant patients. Her patients face numerous mental health challenges as part of their journey, which often contributes to chronic medical issues and treatment noncompliance. She is passionate about mental healthcare and advocating for youth.
