“One of the greatest benefits to service with the PA Foundation is the impact on the community. It allows me to connect with other professionals to advance our profession and make the community we live in a better place. It’s a two-way street and benefits me by cultivating new skills, expanding my network, and helping me to be a better person.”

Leticia Bland serves as secretary of the PA Foundation Board of Trustees. She is currently an associate professor and director of admissions at the University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Health Professions at San Antonio in the department of physician assistant studies. She has been a PA for over 15 years with 5 years of experience in family practice and 10 years in urgent care and emergency medicine. Leticia is a graduate of the Interservice Physician Assistant Program while serving on active duty in the United States Air Force and was awarded her master’s and bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Nebraska.

She remains dedicated to service after retirement from 27 years of military service, joining the PA Foundation as a member of the Board of Trustees. She is a volunteer member of the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force and will also be serving with the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants as the Multicultural Affairs Committee Chair. She is an active member of the American Academy of PAs and the Physician Assistant Education Association to promote the profession and education of future PAs. She is diligently working to achieve a doctorate in health sciences and hopes to strengthen her areas of interest in promoting cultural competence, community health, and disease prevention as well as disaster preparedness.
