Jeffrey A. Katz, PA-C, DFAAPA
Hickory, NC
Jeffrey A. Katz, PA-C, DFAAPA, is a PA working in family medicine in a certified rural health clinic in Taylorsville, NC, for the past 28 years. He has worked as a PA for over 40 years. Drawn to the profession as a young paramedic in New York, Katz’s primary passion is now about a different kind of emergency: access to quality and affordable healthcare, particularly for those who are uninsured and underinsured. Katz believes that PAs must be the voice for their patients at every level, and actively advocates and educates on a local, state and national level on the issues that will improve health outcomes.
Katz served as president and chair of the board of the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) from 2015-2016. He was chair of the AAPA Full Practice Authority Task Force from 2016-2017. Katz served as a member of the AAPA Board of Directors from 2008-2014 prior to serving as AAPA President-Elect in 2014. Prior to that time, he was twice President of the North Carolina Academy of PAs (NCAPA) as well as serving in various leadership roles on the NCAPA Board of Directors. Katz has earned the designation of AAPA Distinguished Fellow.
Katz is on the clinical faculty at Wake Forest University, where he precepts PA students. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Queens College of the City University of New York and graduated from the Catawba Valley Technical Institute PA program.
