Trustee
Clifton D. Butler, MBA, MPAS, PA-C
Virginia Beach, VA
“As a trustee of the PA Foundation, I have been granted the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and forge our mission forward, empowering PAs to improve healthcare through philanthropy and service. Mentorship and support from within our PA family helps each of us thrive in our passions, excel in our career field, and promote better health for each patient treated by everyone in our community.”
A native of Silver Creek, Mississippi, Clifton has been a PA since 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry/Pre-Medicine from Jackson State University, a Master of Business Administration from American Intercontinental University, and a Bachelor of Science and Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Clifton has served for 21 years with the United States Navy, and is currently on active duty where his service has spanned the United States and multiple overseas deployments. During his career, he has spent his time working in the areas of primary care, occupational medicine, disaster management and response, and operational and executive medicine within the military.
Clifton is a past president of the Naval Association of Physician Assistants (NAPA) and also served as the NAPA representative in the House of Delegates. As president of NAPA he created regional subsets of the organization and increased leadership opportunities for Navy PAs to advocate for the profession across the military enterprise. His efforts led to increased CME opportunities for Navy PAs on the East Coast, West Coast, and abroad while supporting active duty, military, and reserve PAs world-wide.
Clifton currently serves as a CEO with his husband Edward of RBF Medical Transportation Services in Virginia Beach, VA. They reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and have two children, Jonathan Braswell and Jalonnie Rencher-Butler.
Clifton believes that leadership in our profession is paramount to our future. As we journey through our careers, it is up to each PA to guide and empower the future generations of our community onward and upward to practice at the peak of their professional competency.
